It's in one of the least developped parts of the Ile de Re called Ste Marie de Re, which is very charming. So, the basics: the facilities were as clean as any we've stayed at; the area is great (cave painitings, grottes, messing about on rivers, some chateaus, etc etc). There are vines and bull rushes and beautiful views from outside the campsite in every direction. The pitches are poorly marked and are not treated with hardcore save a smattering here and there. Indeed, the region offer several kinds of activities like canoeing, visiting the famous caves of Lascaux or Padirac, the historic center of Sarlat or visiting castles of Middle Age ! The sanitary facilities are inadequate for a site of this size, most people seemed to be using block no.1 (the easiest to get to) just three washing up sinks, two of which never worked properly during our stay.
